The $1.58 billion Mega Millions jackpot was won by a ticket purchased in Florida

According to the lottery website, a ticket sold in Florida has won an estimated $1.58 billion Mega Millions jackpot on Tuesday night – which is hoped to be the largest in the history of the lottery.

The winning numbers, along with the gold Mega Ball of 14, were 13, 19, 20, 32, and 33.

As per the state lottery, the winning ticket was sold at a Publix supermarket in Neptune Beach, Florida.

If confirmed at that level, the $1.58 billion jackpot will surpass the $1.537 billion Mega Millions record won in South Carolina in 2018, the lottery said.

According to Mega Millions, the winner of Tuesday’s ticket can choose to receive the full amount spread out over 29 years in annual payments or receive an estimated one-time lump sum payment of about $783 million before taxes.

The all-time record for the biggest lottery jackpot was a $2.04 billion Powerball prize won in California last year.

Other tickets sold for Tuesday’s drawing also earned substantial prizes.

Two tickets sold in Florida and North Carolina matched the first five numbers and activated the optional Megaplier to win $2 million, available on top of the extra $1 purchase in most states.

Five tickets matched the first five numbers without the Megaplier to win at least $1 million. They were sold in California, Pennsylvania, Texas (two winners), and West Virginia.

According to the California State Lottery, a California ticket sold in Helm will be worth $3.38 million. This is because California’s prize tickets differ based on sales and the number of winners, separate from the fixed prizes shown on the Mega Millions site.
